Tech in Tanzaaaaania!

Been a while since my last post. We are now in Tanzania and settling in nicely.

Tanzania is a beautiful country with really nice people. Living here is slow and rustic but that is just perfect.

One thing about Tanzania that is definitely NOT rustic however is the Internet access. a mere Tsh70000 gets you an HSDPA link with an 8GB cap for 30 days. If you are willing to pay per week you can get even more (12GB) for even less (Tsh60000) over the space of a month.

My time at work is spent familiarising myself with systems, getting into the job and also setting up my monitoring system. The last bit is nearing completion and I should soon be able to receive an alert on my phone whenever a critical system fails.

BTW Tanzania is a great holiday spot. Lots to see and temporary Internet coverage is super-easy to get. Just wach out for the shopping in Dar Es Salaam, which is a bit pricey.
